6 Reasons Why That Zit Always Pops Up On Your Face & Tips To Avoid It

| | ,

Every time you look at that hideous alien growing on your cheek, you ask God, ‘Why me, again?’ and more often than not, the question goes unanswered. You do all it takes to get back to that glowing baby skin you miss so much, but the monstrous zit always comes back. What’s important is to know the root cause of the problem, and then go on to finding the right solutions. In this article, we tell you 6 reasons why you get pimples and tips on avoiding it.

All That Face Touching

You may not realise the gravity of the effect all that face touching has on your skin. The number of times you touch your face is directly proportional to the amount of breakouts you have in a month. It’s true, when you subconsciously touch your face; you are transferring all that bacteria from your hands to those open pores! Even if you have an OCD and wash your hands 16 times a day, the stubborn germs from the keyboard that you type on every day to the train poles you hold on to for support will not give up

We suggest: You keep your hands busy at all times!

Stress

All that stress you take every day in this short life that you are going to live only once, has an adverse effect on your overall skin condition. Due to stress, the adrenal glands overproduce a steroid called cortisol that causes the skin to produce more oil. Thus, leading to acne, inflamed skin and pimples. Stress also makes you look exhausted and dull, an opposite of a happy glowing face.

We suggest: You sleep right, meditate and look at the brighter side of life!

Eating Habits

The statement ‘you are what you eat’ couldn’t be more right. If you eat food items that are heavy on oil and junk, it will show on your skin. If you eat vitamin rich and nutritious foods such as tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, your skin will look as fresh as the salad you made for yourself in the morning. So unless you want to look like an oily French fry, we suggest you stick to a balanced diet.

We suggest: Jotting down a diet plan for yourself, so it helps to keep a check on your intake and eating the right foods that are good for your skin.

Excess Dairy Products

Anything in excess has its side effects. While dairy products are good for the body, too much of it can cause cystic blemishes around the neck, chin and jaw line. Basically, the skin excretes what the body does not require, resulting in breakouts.

We suggest: You balance out your dairy intake. Try to remain off dairy products for about 15 days to see if the acne reduces. If it does, add it back to your diet but in lesser amounts. Consulting a dermatologist if the problem still persists can be a practical decision.

Skipping steps

Often, we skip using a toner after cleansing our face and directly apply sunscreen or moisturiser before heading out. This can cause the pores to fill up with dirt the minute you step out. Do not skip any step in your skin cleansing regime. If it means washing, cleansing, toning and then applying a cream, follow it in that order every day. Toners help in tightening the skin pores, thus making it difficult for dirt or bacteria to get trapped in them.

We suggest: You let the toner stay on your skin for a while after application and do not rinse it. You can also dip a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar as a home remedy for toners.

A Clean End

Don’t underestimate the power of water. We’re trying to say that rinsing your face gently at night before going to bed will retain the moisture in your skin and clean out the day’s dirt. A whole night of sleep with an unwashed face is a thriving space for bacteria. You will end up with a zit or two the next morning.

We suggest: You use a delicate cleanser and do not rub your face ever as it causes skin damage.
