Classic Hairstyles That You Can Never Go Wrong With

| | ,

When it comes to clothes and jewelry, trends are forever changing; so naturally, the hair and make up industries keep up, too. With celebrities being major style icons, we often ape their hair cut, color and general tone of style. (I have a friend who got a bob when she saw the promos of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – can you imagine her horror when she watched the entire movie and realized that over the interval Kajol’s beautiful hair magically grows back?)

With the runways and red carpets being a major source of both information and inspiration, we know how to keep a check on what’s trending; but here’s my list of the few classic hairstyles that no-matter-what, never go out of style. Read on:

The Smooth Straight Hair

You know the kind they show you in the shampoo and conditioner ads? Literally? Yes, those. The Barbie doll finish, the shining, almost radiant hair, it’s the kind of hair that can never go out out of style. With our mothers perpetually telling us to “oil our hair more often” or “eat right so it shows”, I’m sure we can all get the glossy look by paying heed to them with a little more genuine effort.

We all have that one friend whose hair we call “Maggie Noodles“, you’re lying if you’re saying no to that! She has thick hair, that looks even thicker thanks to the fact that she has naturally styled hair. No matter whether she’s in a gorgeous gown or a tank top and denims, she’s going to look as glamorous as she wants, when she wants.

The out-of-the-bed look can look ridiculously sexy – says everyone, always. And let’s admit it – we love those days when we don’t comb our hair, but it looks naturally damn right glamorous. My favorite kind of hair! (Psst.. I hate combs)

The Bangs

This is one hair style that’s been observed on practically every major celebrity, whether Hollywood or Bollywood, at some point of time in their career. You can wear with a glamorous, edgy, gothic or plain-Jane look, too.

When it doubt, when attending a shaadi, when attending a party – and all confused about what to do with your hair, wave them out! Yes, that’s my hair mantra. Whenever  I don’t know whether to go glam, or to keep it simple, this is exactly what I opt for.

The Pixie Cut

Unfortunately, one of the most rarely spotted hair styles. The pixie is super stylish, looks great, especially if you have a tiny face, is one of those statements you know you won’t miss out on making. “That girl with the short hair” – ever used that when you forgot someone’s name?

All in all, these are the hairstyles that I would look through when I need some inspiration. Mix them up, throw in touches of your own, add a couple of layers and cut out some length when you feel like, but always remember to keep experimenting with your look. At the end of the day, it’s hair, it’ll grow back. What say?
